Henry's HeartWise

Privacy Notice

Back to the club

Last updated: 25 October 2026

Reading this with a child? There is a short, friendly version for them: Henry’s little privacy page.

This notice explains what the Woodland Friends Club does with your details and your child's details. We have tried to keep it plain and honest.

Who runs the club

The Woodland Friends Club is run by Mike Howells, the author of Henry’s HeartWise Adventures. You can reach us at info@henrysheartwiseadventures.com.

What we collect, and why

You give us all of this yourself. Children do not create accounts. The account belongs to the parent or carer, who is in charge of what is added about their child.

Why we are allowed to use your details

We use your details to run the membership you have signed up for: your account, your child's passport, your payments and any Golden Acorn you ask for. We also keep what we need to keep the club safe and secure. We only send you news and updates if you tick the box, and you can change your mind at any time.

News and updates

When you sign up there is a box asking if you would like news and updates about Henry's books and the club. It is not ticked for you, and ticking it is your choice. If you tick it, we may email you from time to time, and every email will have a way to unsubscribe. If you do not tick it, we only email you about your account and your membership. We keep a record of whether you ticked the box so we can respect your choice.

What we do not do

We do not sell your details. We do not show adverts. We do not use tracking tools or advertising cookies in the club.

Payments

Payments are taken by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us, and we never see them. Stripe tells us whether your membership is active so the club can open or close.

Who helps us run the club

We use a small number of trusted services to run the club, and they handle your details only for that purpose:

Where your details are kept

The club's accounts and records are stored in Ireland. Some of the other companies that help us run the club are based in, or store information in, countries outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards that UK law accepts, such as approved contract terms, so your details are protected to the same standard.

Your browser

The club keeps a few small items in your browser so it works. These keep you logged in, remember that you have read Henry's welcome letter, and remember the acorn total so the right games are open. They are needed for the club to work, and they are not used for tracking.

How long we keep things

We keep your account and your children's records while your membership is active. If your membership ends, or you sign up and never join, we delete your account and your children's records after 3 months. You can ask us to delete your account at any time, and we will delete your details and your children's details, including their first names, acorn records and certificates. Stripe keeps payment records for as long as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold, to correct it, or to have it deleted. You can also ask us to stop using it in a particular way. Email us at info@henrysheartwiseadventures.com and we will answer as soon as we can.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell members.
